Responsibilities and Impact:
The analyst will perform a wide variety of tasks under his/her own initiative, which include:
Harness existing data sets, identify new data sets for collection and analysis and conduct rigorous reviews of the quality of that information
Create compelling written content for our daily, monthly and annual reports that helps our core readership make better-informed trading, risk management and investment decisions
Engage with customers and potential customers, including webinars/Zoom/Teams Calls on topical issues, demonstrating expertise and acting as ambassador for S&P Global s pursuit of analytical excellence
Identifying new mechanisms, methods and technologies to support and further develop our industry-leading commodities analytics
Preparing presentations and representing the company at international events
What We re Looking For:
Experience in agriculture markets (5 years), with a particular focus on sugar, coffee or cocoa.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including concise written style; and presentation skills.
Strong customer mindset with demonstrated ability to engage directly and honestly with customers and deliver positive experience by creating a partnership mentality.
Strong Excel skills . Experience with power modelling tools useful but not essential.
Key soft skills needed:
Strong communication to facilitate collaboration with clients and stakeholders. Effective communication involves articulating thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely.
Analytical thinking is needed to interpret vast amounts of market data effectively. The analyst will assess trends, economic indicators, and other relevant information to form sound judgments.
Relationship building is an essential aspect of every commodity analyst as strong relationships foster trust and collaboration, leading to better chances of securing advantageous information. Market analysts should engage in regular networking with industry peers, clients, and stakeholders.
Emotional intelligence is crucial and includes self-awareness and stress tolerance, which is essential to work to tight publishing deadlines. Self-motivation and Time management are also of essential importance.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in identifying, gathering, and analyzing information to solve problems effectively. Ability to recognize trends and provide recommendations and develop logical conclusions. Knowledge of mathematical, statistical and modelling concepts and research methods would be beneficial.
