The FinOps Lead will drive the accelerated deployment of FinOps practices, tools, and processes within the organization. This role is critical for establishing a sustainable, outcome-focused FinOps framework that enhances financial accountability, cost transparency, and optimization of cloud investments. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management expertise, technical understanding of cloud financial management, and the ability to engage cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership and Strategy Execution
Own and lead the end-to-end accelerated FinOps Enablement Project, guiding the tool selection, implementation, and development of FinOps practices and processes.
Define and execute a detailed project plan, including goals, milestones, timelines, and success metrics.
Act as the central point of contact for the project, aligning teams across finance, engineering, and product functions, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and accountability.
Tool Selection and Deployment
Manage the tool selection process by solidifying requirements, coordinating vendor PoC s, and leading the decision-making process.
Oversee the implementation and configuration of the chosen FinOps tool, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, cost allocation structures, and reporting needs.
Develop and implement initial dashboards, reports, and configurations to support real-time insights and cost optimization.
Process Design and FinOps Practice Development
Design and standardize core FinOps processes that support budget forecasting, cost allocation, and regular financial reviews.
Establish and document foundational FinOps practices, including principles of cost accountability, optimization strategies, and best practices for cloud financial management.
Drive the training and enablement of cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with new processes and the effective use of FinOps tools.
Pilot Execution and Outcome Measurement
Lead a focused pilot program to test and validate FinOps tools, processes, and practices in selected business units and cloud environments.
Track and report initial outcomes, including cost savings, improved forecast accuracy, and optimization recommendations.
Collect feedback from stakeholders and make iterative adjustments to enhance the effectiveness of the FinOps practices and tool optimization.
Stakeholder Management and Executive Reporting
Engage with key stakeholders across finance, engineering, and product teams to drive buy-in, communicate project progress, and address challenges.
Prepare and present executive-level reports on pilot outcomes, financial insights, and roadmap for broader rollout.
Establish a shared accountability framework, ensuring alignment across zone teams on FinOps goals, roles, and financial outcomes.
Key Qualifications:
Project Management Expertise
Proven track record in leading complex, cross-functional projects from planning through execution.
Strong organizational and time management skills to drive projects within an accelerated timeline.
FinOps Certified and Cloud Financial Acumen
Expert FinOps practitioner with solid experience in the implementation of FinOps principles, cloud cost management, and financial governance practices.
Experience with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and expert understanding of cloud billing, tagging, and resource optimization.
Technical and Analytical Skills
Experience with FinOps or cloud cost management tools (eg Azure Advisor, AWS Cost Explorer, experience in CloudHiro and FinOut will be advantageous).
Robust analytical skills and ability to analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, optimize cloud usage, and achieve cost savings.
Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and drive alignment across finance, engineering, and product teams.
Experience in training and empowering stakeholders on financial practices, processes, and tools.
