India’s automobile industry in February 2025 saw varied sales. Maruti Suzuki slightly increased, Mahindra & Mahindra's SUV sales surged, while Tata Motors and Hyundai faced declines. Toyota Kirloskar and Kia India reported growth, with Kia’s compact SUV Syros boosting sales. MG Motor had retail gains but faced wholesales dip due to production modifications, with electric vehicles showing strong performance.

Yamaha launched its first-ever hybrid motorcycle, the FZ-S Fi Hybrid, in India at Rs 1,44,800. The bike features a 4.2-inch colour TFT display, new smart connectivity options, and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) for improved acceleration. Triumph Motorcycles launches the 2025 Speed Twin 900 in India at Rs 8.89 lakh ex-showroom, featuring new colour options, upgraded suspension and braking components, and a refreshed design. In terms of dimensions, the Syros measures 3,995mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,665mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,550mm. This when compared to the Sonet, is 10mm wider, 55mm taller, and has a 50mm longer wheelbase. The boot space has also increased to 465 litres which is a significant improvement over the Sonet’s 385 litres.
The interior offers fabric upholstery, a rear armrest with cupholders, paddle shifters (CVT), keyless entry, an electrical trunk lock with keyless release, all four power windows, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), traction control, and a Day/Night inside rear-view mirror. Safety and convenience features include 3-point seatbelts and head restraints for all seats, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors and cameras.
Hyundai Motor India has updated its ICE models with new variants and features in the Venue, Verna, and Grand i10 Nios, ahead of launching the electrified Creta. Major upgrades include new trims with improved infotainment systems, sunroofs, and wireless connectivity. These enhancements add premium touches across their line-up.
Porsche India achieves its highest yearly sales in 2024, selling 1,006 vehicles. The Cayenne and Macan SUVs drove sales, with SUVs making up 71% of the total. Demand for Porsche's two-door sports cars doubled. Porsche plans to open new centres and introduce electric models in 2025.
Suzuki Motorcycle India has updated its scooter range with OBD-2B-compliant engines for the Avenis and Burgman Street models. The Avenis retains its design and 124.3 cc engine, with a new Special Edition variant. The Burgman Street EX also follows suit, adding a new Metallic Matte Stellar Blue color and maintaining its 124cc engine.
The Innova Hycross is offered with two petrol engine options - a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder NA petrol engine which puts out 173hp of power and 209Nm of torque. It comes paired only with a CVT automatic gearbox. Another engine is the 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine which puts out a combined 184hp of power and comes with an e-Drive transmission.
Maruti Suzuki observed a 4% growth in January 2025 with 1,73,599 units sold. Hyundai's Creta and new Creta Electric had strong performances despite a dip in overall sales. Tata Motors' sales fell by 11%, while Mahindra & Mahindra and Toyota Kirloskar reported significant growth. MG Motor India saw impressive electric vehicle sales, contributing to a 256% increase.
The India-spec MG Cyberster will feature a 77kWh battery pack measuring just 110mm in thickness. It comes paired with dual oil-cooled electric motors - one on each axle producing a combined 510hp of power and 725Nm torque. It gets AWD and can sprint from 0-100kph in just 3.2 seconds. MG claims a maximum range of 580km on a single charge (CLTC cycle).
