Position Overview:

The Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing database solutions to support business-critical applications. The SME will serve as the go-to expert for database architecture, performance tuning, security, and scalability. This role requires extensive experience with relational and non-relational databases, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to guide teams in implementing robust and efficient database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement database solutions to support business needs and technical requirements.

- Ensure database systems meet high availability, performance, and scalability standards.

- Perform advanced performance tuning and query optimization for databases.

- Lead the migration and upgrade of database systems with minimal downtime.

- Develop and enforce database security, backup, and recovery strategies.

- Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas and optimize queries.

- Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system stability.

- Document database architecture, configurations, and processes for operational excellence.

- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members and stakeholders.

- Stay updated on emerging database technologies and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

- 10+ years of experience in database design, administration, and optimization.

- Strong expertise in relational databases ( Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

- Experience with non-relational databases (MongoDB, Couchbase DB, MySQL DB) is a plus.

- Proficiency in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

- Experience with database migration, replication, and high availability configurations.

- Strong understanding of database security best practices and regulatory compliance.

- Proficiency in scripting languages for database automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, or equivalent are desirable.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with cloud-based database solutions (Azure ).

- Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence platforms.

- Understanding of containerized database deployments using Docker or Kubernetes.

- Ability to manage large-scale databases with complex dependencies.

- Experience in disaster recovery planning and implementation for databases.
