Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with over 5 years of hands-on experience in managing and optimizing SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our SQL database environments. This role involves database installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting while collaborating with developers and IT teams to provide technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (SQL Server 2016/2017/2019 or higher).
• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor and tune database performance, including query optimization, index maintenance, and managing database growth.
• Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage database backup strategies using native SQL Server tools or third-party solutions. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery with technologies like AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, and Replication.
• Database Security: Manage user roles, permissions, and data encryption to ensure database security and compliance with internal and external standards.
• Database Maintenance: Perform database maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, upgrades, and scheduled jobs.
• Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve database issues, including deadlocks, performance bottlenecks, and query execution problems.
• Capacity Planning: Perform storage and capacity planning to ensure database growth is managed effectively.
• Collaboration: Work closely with application developers to ensure database design and queries are optimized and aligned with best practices.
• Monitoring & Alerts: Implement database monitoring solutions to track performance metrics, set up alerts, and ensure system stability.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on database architecture, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience:
• 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in enterprise environments.
• Proficient in managing SQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019).
• Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions like AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication, and Mirroring.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
• Experience in backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning using native and third-party tools.

• Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of database security, user management, and role-based access control (RBAC).
• Experience in automating administrative tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
• Familiarity with cloud-based databases (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Microsoft SQL Server certification (MCSA or MCSE).
• Experience with database clustering and large-scale deployments.
